Summary
 In this article, it tell that a typhoon caused serious damage and killed people in Taiwan. In order to save the people who were trapped in the mountains, the military deployed soldiers to rescue the people. To avoid the risk, many fishing boats were recalled and the crew prepared to fix the boats. Also, the typhoon influenced the Philippines and damaged many houses.

Reaction
 Because we are talking about winds, so I choosed a typhoon report as my RRJ. A typhoon is not only a nature weather phenomenon, but also causes serious loss. It alwas brings extreme winds and plentiful rain. A typhoon moves with counter clockwise rotation. In Taiwan, it usually happens in summer and autumn. Every time a typhoon comes, we have to prepare food in advance because the rain destroys vegetables, so the costs of vegetables get increased. Because it always causes damages, the government assigns the military to rescue or help the refugees to rebuild their homes. I was a soldier; I experienced to rescue the refugees; their houses were buried by water or mudslides, these were cruel scene. But a typhoon has an advantage; because it brings plentiful rain, it can solve the risk of water scarcity. According to my experiences and this article, the typhoon is a terrible phenomenon.

Summary

 In this article, it described that two companies will combine their products and design a new RF device, but they still have to face the lay out problems. If their design works, it will cause a great significance in RF research and bring huge benefits.

Reaction

 RF is an identification system; it means radio frequency, and is used in communication products, such as wireless, cell phone, and the emission or the TV frequency, etc. The frequency of RF is from 10 Hz to 3160M Hz; the frequencies cover from radio to radar. RF is popular because it is used on the computer, cell phone, and processes of semiconductors, etc.
 RF was my interest area in university as well. If it is possible, I will study biomedical devices and apply to RF; RF could control biomedical devices by wireless or computer, the patients do not have to go to the hospital, and the doctor could know the patients' condition by computer.

Summary
 In this article, it says that the antenna of iPhone4 is different from other smart phones' antennas; the iPhone4 has a perfect antenna. The antenna brings a good signal to the iPhone4; the signal is better than those of other smart phones and previous models. Apple has not received many complains about the antenna signal.

Reaction 
 An antenna is important to a cell phone. The antenna affects the quality of communication. The antenna is made smaller and smaller, but when a company makes a small antenna and still considers its quality, that will be a challenge. In order to get a strong signal, the antenna is always long and big, but today the technology emphasizes ingenious designs; that is a trend. The electric products have become smaller and smaller. If a product is small and includes several functions like a computer, the product will be popular, such as iPhone4; the iPhone4 is not only a cell phone, but also a portable computer. In my opinion, this article is about the antenna, but I think the real meaning is to imply the trend of technology.

Summary
This article describes the development of solar cell. Many companies are studying and competing for how to increase the efficiency in solar cells. In order to save the cost, the solar cells are becoming smaller and smaller. This can not bring huge profits but also alleviate the risk of decreasing resources.

Reaction
 I have taken the class which is about solar cells in university; the class talks about the theory and process of solar cells. A solar cell uses a silicon plate to be its base, then is coated with several metals and semiconductors, and that makes it absorb the sunlight; it will produce electric current, the translation rate is about 15%; to increase the efficiency is the most important goal.
 The risk of resources has been becoming an important issue. In order to save resources, the research of alternative energy has become popular; one kind of alternative energy is the solar cell. The principle is to combine different dielectric materials which make the solar cell absorb lights and produce electricity. Although the research is proceeding, I think it will be a trend to become a new energy.

Art Video

  This video describes the differences and sameness between impressionism and post-impressionism. Impressionism is about light and color; impressionists draw paintings with color theory, they put colors on the palette, and mix colors, it's called optical mixing. They draw paintings by learning directly from nature. They draw paintings with vivid colors. The painters paint the subject over and over in order to catch the exact color. And the post-impressionists use impressionist techniques but they want to take the style to a whole new level. They paint with more patience, more expression, and use color to communicate about the world; they were searching a deeper meaning in the art.

  In my opinion, I can't tell the differences between impressionism and post-impressionism, because I don't have any art sense. But according to Monet's paintings, he used several colors and mixes them, so the paintings are filled with the variation of colors and light; his paintings make the scenery more colorful. In order to create colorful scenery, the painters use colors to cover the original colors.

My Favorite Art

  The shadowgraphic is a folk art. The puppets are made from animal skin or paper. The entertainers use light to illuminate on a white screen, and perform a show with music and singing songs. It has the fame of movie ancestors. In the past, movies, TV, etc, those media were not popular; the shadowgraphic was one kind of popular folk entertainments. In Chinese history, the entertainers performed shadowgraphics for soldiers; the soldiers had to fight a war in daytime, so the shadowgraphics were their entertainerment at night.

  I have seen the shadowgraphic several times. The entertainers play the puppets carefully; they especially have to cooperate in music and light. But as the media has become popular, the shadowgraphic has been downfallen; people seem to forget this traditional performance art. Nowadays, if we want to see the art, we have to go to the museum.

The Painting

The painting by Laetitia was described a situation of a downtown. I saw the residents, cars, children, and families. A woman's car was broken, and a mechanic helped her fix the car. A man pushed his cart and sold something fresh. Probably this painting described some evening; people just finished their work or school and wanted to go home. Maybe there was a school near the street; I saw a mother bringing her children and a father driving a car with his family. A store was crowded, so a woman must wait outside of the store. Some people were living in an apartment and a mother was holding her baby watching those people. I think this painting described the end of a day of a downtown; it was bustling. Probably the artist likes to draw daily life.
